ASHANNA DJEMAT WIDODO, B.A., M.P.S,-R.E.

Ashanna Djemat Widodo, B.A., M.P.S,-R.E. -also known as Ashanna- daughter of Mr. Yusuf Djemat and Mrs. Chandra Motik Yusuf Djemat, is a third generation of Indonesian entrepreneurs, politicians, scholars, and lawyers. Her grandfather, Basyarudin Rachman Motik, mostly known as B.R Motik, was a successful businessman and the Chairman of the Indonesia National Economic Congress. His last name MOTIK was an abbreviation of the term “(M)ajukan (O)lehmu (T)anah Air (I)ndonesia (K)ita” or what was translated to “Advance Indonesia”. He coined this term because he witnessed his father struggle as pasirah – head of South Sumatran’s tribes - under the leadership of Sultan of Palembang against the Dutch colonization. Mr. Motik was also a close friend of Indonesia founding father and the first President, Ir. Soekarno, and was trusted as the member of Komite Nasional Indonesia Pusat (KNIP) and Majelis Permusyarawatan Rakyat Sementara (MPRS) the then Republic of Indonesia Parliament.[i]

Her late Uncle, Mr. Gani Djemat, served as The Head of the Legal and Political Department of the Indonesian Supreme Command from 1964-1966 and Defense Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore from 1966-1971 before founded the Gani Djemat & Partner Law Firm in 1972 (http://gdjemat.com/).  

Ashanna’s mother, Mrs. Chandra Motik Yusuf Djemat, is an expert in Maritime Law founded and led Chandra Motik Yusuf Djemat Law Firm, and was one of the few selected attorneys that sent as Indonesian delegate to settle the Human Right Violations Dispute between Indonesia and East Timor in 1999 while her father, Mr. Yusuf Djemat is a successful businessman founded and led PT. Kembar Bangun Mandiri, a certified agent and supplier of aviation equipment such as Hydraulic Fluid, Fuel System Corrosion Inhibition (FSCI), Fuel System Icing Inhibitor, and Aviator Grease for the Indonesian Military.

With an immense influence and well to do background, Ashanna is aspired to continue the legacy that was initiated by her family and excel in different areas of her life such as education, business, ministry, and other creative outlets.
